In the Netherlands, two terms are regularly used interchangeably. The "eagle owl" is a type of owl, but is also regularly used to refer to owls in general.

Quote

By birds of prey we mean birds from the orders accipitriformes and falconiformes. Owls belong to the order Strigiformes and are therefore not birds of prey. So it's actually just an agreement we made. This agreement cannot be scientifically substantiated. Evolutionarily, owls and eagles are more closely related than falcons and eagles.

German also has two names for owl reinierpower .

The German language knows the terms "Eule" and "Kauz". This separation is also affected in no other European languages. In English, all Eulenarten were described as owls and in Dutch as owls. Die Französische Sprache kennt black neben chouette nor den Begriff hibou, jedoch wird letztere Bezeichnung ausschließlich für Eulen mit Federohren wie die Waldohreule spoilt.

Google translation,

The German language has the terms "Eule" and "Kauz". This distinction is not made in any other European language. In English all owl species are referred to as owl and in Dutch as owl. In addition to chouette, the French language also has the term hibou, but the latter term is only used for owls with feathered ears, such as the long-eared owl.

Furthermore, this article states that the distinction between Eule and Kauz is the sound they make.

I think just add it as a name variant. The plural for Kauz is Käuze.

By the way, what I've been wanting to ask az60 all along (now that we're at the owls). Are owls still classified as birds of prey, or is there a separate group? In other words, indicate owls at LD, also at the birds of prey (theme), or leave this as it is?.

Strange that the Hiboux theme does not have a name variant Chouettes.

My favourite:

What term is used on lastdodo (in French)
Chouettes or Les Hiboux?
The only difference between the two words is that Les Hiboux has folds on the ears and Chouettes do not.
Do you really have to look exactly at the image to see whether the owl depicted has folds on the ears or not?
The owl on the left is a hiboux and the one on the right is a chouette

Is the intention to adapt the manual or to first discuss the signal here that se-tenant and series of individual stamps have an independent right to exist in an administrator meeting, Collectioneur?

Good evening
I wanted to point out in the draftsman/engraver category, there are duplicates sometimes spelling errors.
Example:
Belton L
Belton Liam
Laszlo Gyula (Julian) Vasarhelyi
Vasarhelyi, Laszlo Gyula (Julian) [1929-2013]

Thank you

There are 3 perforations Helv , in this issue group. Serrated K14, zickzak and saw.

We're going to get out!.

I think #10325173 is 6 B, not 6 A wb z. 6 A wb z has a normal serration of 14.

A is serrated K 14, B is zickzack 13½. Is clearly visible. The saw is not issued in Michel 6 (at least until now)

Wondering who will put this misuse of fields in the manual.

What do you mean abuse Jummeke ?. It's about Other, there are limited rules here, because nothing is set in stone yet. Please do something constructive, not always disapproving. If you think something can be improved, you indicate a way in which something can be improved. According to your vision.

That clears up the list quite a bit.
Just wait until everything becomes visible at the stamps.

Why are all those combinations in the list necessary, if it is already possible to add more than 1 printing technique?

The combined printing techniques have just been split up by means of a script. The items in question are now linked to 2 printing techniques.
The combination of printing techniques have been removed from the list, so that they can no longer be selected.
It may be that the indexes in the collections and shops have not yet been completely updated, but this happens at a leisurely pace during the day.

The sub-series is intended as a search function, such as the face value of stamps. Enter the date exactly as it appears on your stamp in the search engine. And you are there.

To be honest, I don't really understand the code form in sub-string Charles1971 from your example #10322203 .
You can use it to bring together everything from one specific date (a kind of 'Issue group'), but nothing more.
With sorting you can remove all date stamps that were placed on 'a' 2nd day of the month. What the point of that is escapes me somehow.
Everything that is stamped on January 2, February 2, March 2, ..., regardless of century or year, is sorted together ... Bizarre.
Perhaps the aggregation field could be used more usefully for a real stamp collector. You should check with collectors who really collect date stamps.

I don't think there are any problems with the leading zeros Raoul62 . 01 is at the front and 10 is at the back.

Now we just have to wonder whether this “creativity” is in the manual.

It's just for trying out Jummeke .

A serial NUMBER is a number. A large number is also a serial number. It doesn't say anywhere that it has to be a small number, right?
Something that starts with a 0 is not actually a serial number, but rather a code (or text).
Hence YYYYMMDD. Then you won't have any problems with leading zeros.

If you place the date in the serial number for those specific things in that section without day/month fields, format YYYYMMDD, they will be neatly sorted according to 'date'.
