This statement by Morits summarizes the opinion of Catawiki well:

An administrator does not need to understand Art.

That's right! Because Catawiki does not (yet) have a separate Art section. Administrators understand the section of which they are administrators.

Catawiki has 72 sections and as far as I know there is not a single administrator who understands all the sections.

and besides, it is not the opinion of Catawiki , it is my opinion, I have no connection with Catawiki, I am a volunteer who wants the catalog up to date and I do (still, despite some criticisms) with great pleasure

Because Catawiki does not (yet) have a separate Art section.

And it does not get one either. Being art Is not an objectively measurable property of an object and therefore unusable as a cataloging tool.

And anyone who thinks differently may have an understanding of Art, which actually means nothing more than having an idea. of what a certain elite currently considers as such in time and space (poor Vincent sold exactly one cloth during his lifetime, because the elite did not like it). But definitely not about setting up a database.

Is that why they call the work of Marlene Dumas, Charlotte Dumas and Rineke Dijkstra Kunst? :-)

Something like that, but I have a completely different problem. I recently wanted to introduce a symphony by Ludwig Amadeus van Bachhoven. Turns out that it should be in the same column where the collected work of Nick & amp; Simon can be found. I was very shocked by that.

But I am not going to put Opus Magnus by an artist whose work can be found in the repertoire of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, among other things, between the humpapa and kitsch melodies.

Obviously there is no administrator with knowledge of ART related to the records and CDs.

Remarkable: I am responding to a message about the PACKAGING of a painting.

Box or box? And then get the opinions of all admins about me

about their ideas about art! As if I'm jumping for their opinion!

But it was educational and time-saving: I will only deal with cans and

magazines or the like in the catalogue. Although my one liter can

caviar isn't that too elitist?

And oh yes, there is a magazine (Wendingen) up for auction. Estimated value

750 - 1000 euros. About art, of course. And yes I bid on it.

But of course it's none of Catawiki's business, let alone administrators, how me

spend my money!

Can the management of Catawiki, auction and catalog give their opinion on this Forum

not disclose? That could be enlightening, at least for me.

CENSORSHIP

3 of my posts on Forum were not posted, and also the

hate mail from Morits not "Liar etc"

When purchasing at the auction you must state your e-mail address,

I did, not suspecting that I was receiving hate mail from a

manager would receive. I call that infringement on my

privacy and misuse of my data!

Dear Isca,

I deleted one post from you last week. Not because of the message, but because the message was placed in a completely wrong topic. I took the trouble to send you the complete text of that message via Catawiki's internal mail system, with the request to post it in a good topic. I don't call that censorship, but service. The fact that you have not placed the message elsewhere afterwards is at best self-censorship. (;-)

In addition, admins will never be able to know your email address if you haven't emailed them directly yourself, I guess. This is because information from the auctions is never shared with catalog managers. We keep that strictly separate.

I also asked you via the internal messaging system to relax a bit more. That is not only more pleasant for yourself, I suspect.

It's getting crazier and crazier:

When purchasing at the auction, you must provide your e-mail address ,

I did, not suspecting that I hate mail from any

administrator. I call that breach of my

privacy and misuse of my data!

Isca

you were the first to send me an email through Catawiki's messaging system . I will answer, so that has absolutely nothing to do with your private email address. So I could also turn it around: my privacy has been violated, because you were the first to send me an email privately, all I did afterwards was answer.

I really believe that you are not tracking and I take not a word in return.

I have 2 more minis:

'Pensees sur le livre', (1972) Swiss edition, 89 international writers! 2.7 cm x 3.8 and a Dutch 'ABC booklet' 1.7 cm x 2.3 cm.

Now there is a cat. mini books that only contain children's books, and that's where these belong

literary books not in the house. So don't. Isca

@pegag:

We have a similar problem with Books. No one who understands Literature.

@isca:

It would help if you confined yourself entirely to the topic of discussion without jumping to conclusions and making wild accusations.

If you're really that dissatisfied with us, there's only one thing left for you to do: end your participation and move on.

Whether or not to continue is a decision that lies with me.

The fact that I will apparently continue, despite all the annoyances and insults,

apparently because I have an interest. I wouldn't have thought about working on the catalog

, all that work / time, completely selfless.

No, Moritz

I sent all my emails to the Catawiki catalog forum!

I added your name to my 3rd email because you included 'Rembrandt or the neighbor around the corner', and 'Who's afraid of red, yellow and blue' (Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam).

My emails were addressed to Catawiki Forum. But you sent me your hate mail to my private mail address and not to FORUM, at least it was not posted there.

I certainly don't want your e-mail address.

can you tell Isca loud and clear about the difference between a forum and the messaging system of Catawiki. I have sent you the mails from Isca, so that you at least know how things work.

Dear Isca,

Just a comment

There was no question of generalization on my part. I just quoted statements from three different managers of the Catawiki Catalog regarding Visual Arts.

You did indeed quote 3 different administrators, but you really wrote "The administrators"

The administrators hate ART. This can be seen from their statements:

I think, and I'm pretty good at reading comprehension, this is really a generalization.

But what exactly is it that you are dealing with? Is that the fact that Rembrandt's "Nightwatch" is in the catalog next to my uncle Nardus's "Maasbode"? In other words, something priceless next to something that might only yield 200 euros? Why can't a Royal Doulton cup stand next to that of the Blokker?

This whole discussion reminds me of a music newsgroup; about 15 years ago or so. The lovers of classical music insisted on having their own newsgroup because they felt that pop music was not serious music. Fortunately, that group eventually came about, because a decent discussion could not be had with the classics.

Adding a section 'Art' seems unwise to me, if only because of the expected pointless discussions about what is and what is not art.

However, in my opinion a section 'Visual art' does add something essential. to the catalog.

An essential difference.

If objects belonging to a completely different discipline in a catalog are in the same section, then there is something wrong with the layout of that catalog.

If the contents of the sections' Postcards' and 'Trading cards' would stand together in the fictional section' Cards', we would find this illogical. If consumer items such as Boerenbont cups and saucers are listed in the same section as a ceramic work by the visual artist Pierre Culot, I find that just as illogical.

This has nothing to do with the differences in value of the objects nor with concepts such as 'elite' and 'plebs'. It is only about making information as accessible as possible to the users of the catalog.

Visual art is not an object, vinjat.

I think it is already very neatly arranged that both the section Drawing / painting (for originals) and the section Prints / graphics (for print runs) neatly refer to this forum. (;-)

The colon after 'their statements' was not followed by a list of all administrators, but only of the relevant administrators. Not necessarily a generalization.

Vinjat Video Games

I was already wondering if I had not yet met one or more on Catawiki Forum

(Arco, Morits, Pegag, jozefK, Vertigo, FransS , and moderator rikMooren); in that case

I would have generalized, and apologize for the generalization.

With colon or not.

But the dislike has been confirmed by them. In fact, they are personal attacks.

. In the 1st place by Morits to my address: liarster

. Rudi Fuchs does not know the difference between Art and trick

. Fuchs, that pichem, who had the famous painting colored by the winter painter

. Isca thought it necessary that this designer (!) Should stand head and shoulders above the crowd

because artists are simply very special people.

. Rembrandt with me just drawing / painting between my neighbour's garbage.

. I personally think that the Stedelijk (Amsterdam) has enough plain junk

not to use that as a benchmark.

. Fuchs has always had a lot of trouble with the difference between art and art.

These are personal attacks against me, artists, museum directors and others.

And now the Concertgebouw Orchestra is also coming dragged in!

My response that a comment by Morits is absurd is nothing compared to these

personal attacks from administrators and moderator. Threat of Removal

from Forum. Now that doesn't bother me now.

@Arco:

Certainly, there is absolutely logic already present in the catalog.

Visual art is not an object, vinjat.

Nor are 'Glass and Crystal', 'Ceramics', 'Aviation' and 'Match Marks'. But as a catalog section they refer to objects just as strongly as 'Visual art'.

I think that the name of a category does not have to be an object in order to be able to place and find objects in it in a logical way. And that is the essence of this catalogue, I hope.

I suspect the word "art" is the problem. Try to see 'visual arts' as an objective concept, like 'specialist literature'. Whether something is literature (or has literary value) is up for debate, but in 'specialist literature' the meaning changes.
