Analogous to what was done with the naming of the areas occupied by Japan, we now also want to do this for other occupied areas. Then all occupied areas are clearly displayed.
First the block with the German Empire. There was also a request to indicate aliases:

Please report if something is not correct. Then we will adjust these areas in the catalog.

Once again we are faced with fait accompli.
Why are the previous unambiguous names changed and why are the years of the occupation periods suddenly omitted?
And why are we not asked in advance (and not halfway through) when I have had to determine this and report it on the forum?
And since when has a catalog manager suddenly become a specialist in philately?

Loriot considering all the work that needs to be done, any help from the catalog manager is more than welcome.

As you can see in the overview (under the current name), the use of the years was not consistent. The proposal is to omit this (except in Russia, on the one hand because there are two periods, and on the other hand because the entire area has already been divided into several periods and in this way a logical order is maintained).

The conversion had previously been temporarily stopped. Your post and the Petvre question about Soviet stamp with Latvia print has led to it being picked up again as a priority.

The current proposal is not to reverse the names, but to include both forms. Both collectors from the occupied areas and collectors from the occupying country can thus more easily find "their" stamp.

The point that has not yet been resolved is that the German Empire - Occupation of Latvia contains stamps from the Soviet Union. My proposal is therefore to add Soviet Union to this area as a Name Variation. An additional alias seems too confusing.

We would like to hear whether there are any substantive objections to this proposal. If not, the adjustment will be implemented and the Asian areas will also be adjusted in due course.

As you can see in the overview (under the current name), the use of the years was not consistent.
What do you mean by "not consistent"?
My proposal is therefore to add Soviet Union to this area as a Name Variation. An additional alias seems too confusing
At that time (1941) Latvia was part of the Soviet Union.
Better in this name would be:
"German Reich - Occupation of the Soviet Union (Latvia)"
The name "German Empire [1941-1942] - Occupation of Russia" is also wrong in that sense. It should be:
"German Empire [1941-1942] - Occupation of the Soviet Union".
Which means that the names of the countries / regions are also in need of a revision.
In the meantime, I have come to that conclusion when drawing up the list of watermarks. My work on this is not finished yet, but I already have a whole series of improvements to the names in the four languages.

If Russia was called Russia in the period 1914-1918 and the Soviet Union from 1941-1942, then the dates can also simply be omitted.
Or occupation years must be added everywhere.

Why not simply place the stamps of these occupied territories under the countries themselves? So no longer under German Empire occupation of Luxembourg or Luxembourg occupation by the German Empire or I don't know much and with 20 aliases behind it.

Why not just Luxembourg? We are talking about a short period of time and the country really remains the same. Or should LD necessarily follow the large paper catalogues?

Is definitely too simple again?.

For the collector, isn't that what it's all about? This would be a great relief.

Please don't mix everything up, have you ever looked at Russia to see how many years are included.
Russia 1914 - 1918 contains such #2099849 stamps.
And have you ever seen a Dutch stamp during the occupation that was overprinted in connection with the occupation, I didn't.
This is about stamps, and they are available from Russia and not from the Netherlands.

Apparently collectors want to be able to select stamps from occupied territories. Do you have an idea how you could select those "occupation stamps" in a different way, without a separate Country/Territory?

Have you ever looked at Russia to see how many years are listed?
I must admit that that history is quite complex, but Russia has only been occupied once (as far as I see) by the German Empire. The second time it was called the Soviet Union.

And have you ever seen a Dutch stamp during the occupation that was overprinted in connection with the occupation, I didn't.
No, but that also applies to Estonia, for example. What is the difference? Aren't those Dutch stamps issued by the occupying forces?

How do you find the Europe stamps together? Collectioneur? Exactly, because of the theme of Europe stamps. Add the theme, Occupied Territories, and you can filter everything nicely, by year, by country.

And what about the Allied Occupation of Germany by the Americans, British, French and Russians, do you want to put them all under Germany alone?
Or perhaps also Berlin or the ex-GDR is now also Germany.
And I have more, Saarland is Germany, Saargebiet is Germany, Württemberg French Zone and the like, everything is Germany.
Sometimes I really wonder what they are doing here.

I don't like the Charles1971 idea of adding an "Occupied Territories" theme.
That's simple, but you have to know something about history, I think every collector knows that.
For the rest of what I read above, a lot of water still flows through the Maas before everyone agrees, but as it is now, that is not possible.

And what about the Allied Occupation of Germany.
In my opinion this is the same as Russia.
We are talking about history here and not about whether flowers and plants can be put together.
This is all meant ironically, so just leave it as it is now.

Allied Occupation of Germany.

= Germany Lyonesse These are not American, Russian, French or English stamps, but German stamps used in Germany or the GDR.

If this is too difficult, you can always leave it as is. But take a closer look at the list above. Can't they be properly subdivided?

If you see the name of, for example, the Russian occupation (1914-1918) (German Empire), this is also difficult for the not so, I would say advanced, collector to find this.
Would be better, as Loriot also indicated, German Empire (1914-1918) (Occupation Russia) this is also stated on the stamps, Deutsches Reich see #2099849
This would certainly improve the search.

"German Reich - Occupation of the Soviet Union (Latvia)"
The name "German Empire [1941-1942] - Occupation of Russia" is also wrong in that sense. It should be:
"German Empire [1941-1942] - Occupation of the Soviet Union".
If you want to be consistent you should write:
German Empire - Occupation of the Soviet Union [Latvia]
German Empire - Occupation of the Soviet Union [Russia]

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Russia were all Soviet republics with officially equivalent status within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (better known in the Netherlands as the Soviet Union).

Combining the name of the republic and the name of the Soviet Union offers few advantages for findability (does not appear in the list for the Soviet Union, or not for the republic).

Charles1971 Europe stamps are not stamps issued by the state of Europe and are not valid for postage throughout Europe (ie you cannot use a French Europe stamp for postage in the Netherlands).

Lyonesse
Russia occupation (1914-1918) (German Empire) this is also difficult for the not so, let's say, advanced collector to find this.
Better would be, as Loriot also indicated, German Empire (1914-1918) (Occupation Russia)
That is why it is proposed to create Aliases.

The current classification is based on who issued the stamps. That in itself is a logical choice.
However, it does not always make findability easy. In addition, it does not do justice to the fact that stamps from occupied territories were collected by collectors from two different countries, namely those of the occupying power and those of the occupied country.

As an example, stamps from the German occupation period of Ukraine are collected by both those who collect the German Empire and those who collect Ukraine and/or the Soviet Union.
This applies to most occupied territories. Possibly the Allied occupation of Germany is the rule that confirms the exception here, but personally I have already included the Allied Occupation [Russian zone] first.

For the historians among you, was it Russian zone or Soviet zone?

Just a little while for everyone.
Under German Empire [1914-1918] - Occupation of Russia, there are stamps from the German Empire with a German overprint and stamps from the Soviet Union with a German overprint.
This area covered what later became Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and parts of Poland and Belarus.
Before the war, the areas belonged to the Russian Empire.
During the war to the German Empire.
After the First World War they became independent states.
During the Second World War they rejoined the German World War.
After the Second World War they were part of the Soviet Union (with the exception of the state of Poland, which I think had a different geography in the meantime).

Accommodation to a country is therefore not that simple.

The area referred to has been temporarily renamed. Once this discussion has been completed, it will be adjusted again.

The example of Europe stamps was intended to show how easily one can filter between different years and countries Helv . I also know that a stamp from Estonia is not valid in Lithuania.

Soviet Union 30-12-1922 to 21-12-1991 ?.

To be honest, I don't know much about these kinds of historical facts. That's why the net.

German Empire [1914-1918] - Occupation of Russia
Wikipedia states that "... from 1917 to 1922, the" Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) " was an independent state. The state was formed in November 1917 from the parts controlled by Bolshevik Russia. Since the founding of the Soviet Union in December 1922, the RSFSR has been part of it."
During the 2nd World War, Germany invaded the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union was one of the Allies to occupy the German Empire after the war ended.
With some research you can and will find the correct name of a country or an area.
In this case it is necessary to clean up this list first.
With the aliases that are now added, one simply doubles the incorrect or incomplete names.
And the proposal to immediately check the list of occupied territories is ridiculous and shows little insight of the whole.

Loriot maybe you should write in Dutch after all. I don't understand what you mean by the last sentence:
And the proposal to immediately check the list of occupied territories is ridiculous and shows little insight of the whole.
Soviet Union 30-12-1922 to 21-12-1991 ?.
I meant to refer to the Allied occupation of Germany by the Soviets.
The local catalog speaks of: "Allierte Besetzung (Soviet Zone)"
Dutch usually speaks of the Soviet zone or Soviet occupation zone in Germany.
So I wonder whether LD consciously opted for "Allied Occupation - Germany [Russian zone]"
or that this is better
"Allied Occupation - Germany [Soviet Zone]" can be.
