Tested it out in the Other section with the Designer field, but it may also be found elsewhere. 1) In the alphabetical list a specific designer is listed twice, eg 'Molenaar, Romano' = without alias and 'Molenaar, Romano (Romano)' = with alias added by administrator. 2) Take an item from the first group, choose 'Edit item', go to the Designer field and start typing. At some point, you see a list of both and you choose the second group. Choose 'Save'. Conclusion: Nothing is changed, so changing a Designer to an (almost) identical value is NOT a change?

Then I think you really clicked the same one. The correct one has the alias in parentheses below it.

edit: merged them.

No way, I have tried several cases, each time the same result. Take 7731637 : in the field Designer is 'Molenaar, Romano' (so first), choose from the list back the first then it says 'Molenaar, Romano' (logical), choose from the list the second then it says 'Molenaar, Romano' (also logically, I have already noticed that during editing an alias never appears in the field itself), choose Save, I get the green confirmation box and date / time / user have been adjusted, now look in History and nothing has happened. Edit: Thank you Arco for the quick responses, but there are dozens of such instances. In the Other forum I made a topic for this that I will be busy for a few more weeks.

The same for capital letters: view 7807573 , change 'Park , nick 'in' Park, Nick ', Save, green confirmation, nothing changed and nothing in History.

That's right, but that's deliberate, otherwise we would get a lot of duplicate areas. These can only be corrected by administrators. Also applies to accents on letters ...

You're right, makes sense. But in this way administrators (who already do so much voluntarily) are given an additional task.
