Many of my entries reject the ISBN number. Apparently I'm doing it wrong according to some of the reviewers, but not according to others. I'm a bit off track here. I am sure I literally took several songs from the album but it is still rejected. An info tab at the ISBN field about what it should look like can help.

Let me quote what was previously agreed:
ISBN
Enter any ISB -Number also for the correct variant and press a album in. ISBN has only been around since 1970, so older albums cannot have it. As of January 1, 2007, ISB Numbers have 13 digits. Before that there was officially only ISBN -10 (10 digits), but in 2006 you could already add ISBN -13. In England there was already from 1966 SBN , a 9-digit code on which ISBN is ultimately based.
ISB -Numbers can be entered with or without dashes. When displayed, the dashes will automatically be placed in the correct place.

We still have to make the automatic setting of the dashes in the right place, but this is now high on the priority list.

Without going into specific users (because I don't remember them, if I already see them when reviewing) I do know that ISBN fields are regularly rejected in which BARCODES are typed.
A Dutch ISBN -10 starts ALWAYS with 90- and then the rest. A ISBN -13 (possible from mid-2005) always with 978-90- and then the rest.
Very occasionally, a ISBN of a Dutch album starts with a different number. That just means that a foreign publisher has requested a ISBN for its Dutch edition in the country of origin.
I saw this happening from my head at Lucky Comics and Graton .
I reject numbers shorter than 10 positions. I sometimes disapprove numbers that contain too much information (people sometimes type extra letters after them), unless I understand the ISBN . Then I correct it and then approve it. I always reject barcodes.

If I may make a suggestion… Is it an idea to omit the dashes altogether? You then have a list with only numbers.
Barcode software also often supplies that format. I also encountered it in desktop programs such as Books and Delicious Library
In LibraryThing you can also search for ISBN numbers in the form of one series of numbers.

The correct entry of ISBN numbers has been arranged for a long time, but I did not know that either and so I have entered everything incorrectly until now.

Entering ISBN numbers with dashes is correct.

The would indeed be a good idea to add an info tab to the input fields for the ISBN numbers.

Who will take care of that? How hard can it be, as they always say in TopGear? ;-)

And yet with CataWiki it can be done in both ways, because not all dashes are placed in the same place and for the system it is easier without dashes.
