The LastDodo internet forum is often a busy and lively discussion. The forum lives with the LastDodo users and almost everyone knows how to behave when posting.
Now and then it gets a little too intense and the language becomes a little less. Users also put personal contact details on the forum in all their innocence without thinking about the consequences of this.
Before things get out of hand or to protect the ignorant posters, the forum moderators intervene. This is nothing new, this has been done since the forum was founded. The moderators are the guardians of morality on the forum.
Currently these are;
Collector, rik Mooren and Ted.
If you want to say something about the forum without expressing it via the forum, you can always reach one of us via LastDodo messages.
To clarify, we are not here to censor things, but to keep things civilized.
To make our task somewhat easier, we have put together some rules and tips to keep the ins and outs of the forum running smoothly. If a moderator intervenes in a message, we will make it clear on the basis of these regulations why the message has been changed. Read these rules and tips at your leisure and try to stick to them. That makes our job a lot easier.
Register and the forum rules.
The LastDodo internet forum is an open source of information. This means that anyone with access to the internet can read what is posted on the forum. Always keep that in mind when posting on the forum. Participating in a conversation (posting) is only possible if you are a registered user of LastDodo.
If you, as a registered user, are active on the forum, we assume that you agree with our forum rules.
Forum Moderators
The use of the forum is controlled by forum moderators.
Forum moderators can and may edit posted messages, delete them and close (lock) topics.
They may also allow members who do not abide by the forum rules:
  • warn,
  • temporarily deny access to the forum,
  • permanently banned from the forum.
Liability
It is impossible for the forum moderators to check messages on all aspects. Therefore, we do not take any responsibility for the correctness, (in)completeness or legal admissibility of messages.
Each member is responsible for his/her own message!
Post messages
  • Use a clear subject (topic) as a title. This contributes to the fact that a topic is easy to find via the search function of the forum.
  • Before opening a new topic, please search the forum to see if there have been previous discussions on this topic. Chances are the answer to your question has already been given.
  • Almost every collection area on LastDodo has its own sub-forum. Always make sure to post your topic in the correct subforum.
  • If you are new to the forum, please introduce yourself first. The other users will get to know you a little bit and will be more willing to spend time looking for answers to your questions. Don't immediately start with questions like 'how much is it worth'. Experienced forum users will usually not reply to this.
  • It's annoying to ask a question on the forum and not get an answer. But it's even more annoying to ask a question and when it is answered, then not to participate in the conversation anymore.
  • If you've asked a question on the forum and others have replied to it, please be so polite as to say thank you. This has a stimulating effect and forum users will feel called upon to answer questions more often.
  • When a problem is solved, report this together with the solution in the relevant topic. Others can learn from this and it motivates people to keep helping.
  • Pay attention to the readability of your message. Capitalization is only for the beginning of a line or an abbreviation. Posting texts with excessive capitalization is considered shouting and inappropriate on the forum. Placing multiple quotes and question marks in succession is also very disturbing. If you want to emphasize something in your text, italicize your text.
  • Before posting, read your message carefully and check it for language errors, periods, commas and capital letters. This improves readability. A readable message is responded to sooner and more sensibly.
  • If, after posting, you want to make changes to your message, you can do so up to 24 hours after posting.
  • If you respond to a question/message/comment, please stay on-topic. A little craziness is always allowed, but never play on the person.
  • Do not post the same message multiple times in different sub-forums/topics (cross-posting).
  • If you have a new question, please open a new thread. Don't take over someone else's thread by asking a question that has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.
  • If you have a private question or offer to a member, please do so via PM (Personal Mail). Do not engage in personal discussions on the forum.
  • Do not use a salutation with your message and do not always end your message with a greeting. That's very nice, but unnecessary on a forum. Don't end your message with your (nick) name either.
Posting in response to a purchase/sale through LastDodo
If you are not satisfied after receiving or processing an order from a shop on the LastDodo Marketplace, do not post about it on the forum. First contact the (seller) buyer and explain to him/her where the problem is and try to solve it together. If this does not work immediately, ask the LastDodo team to mediate, which can be done via the Contact page .
Rules of decency
The normal rules of decency apply on this forum, so the following are not allowed:
  • the use of swear words or foul language
  • insult or attack someone in a vulgar way
  • posting someone's or own private information, such as telephone number (email) addresses, etc.
  • Quoting on the forum from personal mail traffic with other users is not allowed without the sender's permission.
  • racist statements
  • threats
Administrators are volunteers who dedicate part of their time to supporting LastDodo. We are very grateful to them for that and will not tolerate it if our administrators are insulted or attacked in any way on the forum. This may result in temporary or permanent exclusion.
Objections
  • If you think something needs to be changed in a topic, don't post comments and/or warnings yourself, but warn a moderator via a PM. Provide a clear description of the objection. Every complaint is reviewed and action is taken if necessary.
  • In the event of an intervention by a moderator, the moderator will in most cases send the author of the message an email explaining why he has taken this step.
  • If you disagree with a decision made by a moderator, please PM the moderator with a clear description of why you disagree. Never do this openly via the forum!
  • Objections will not always be answered, but they will always be taken into account.
Forbidden
Prohibited:
  • Anything prohibited by law,
  • recruiting for anything (auctions, shops, other websites, charities, crowdfunding, etc.), placing advertisements and promoting products (spamming) with the exception of matters for which LastDodo has given explicit permission. In the event of deliberate spamming, an account will be immediately deleted without prior warning,
  • offer something for sale via the forum, for this you have your own shop on LastDodo,
  • posting links to other sites that are against LastDodo's principles.
Terminology
Those who are new to forums increasingly struggle with abbreviations and terms that are normal for the experienced forum visitor. Here are some terms with their explanations:
  • PM: private message, via the LastDodo mail system
  • Thread, topic or thread: forum topic
  • Post, reply, reaction: comment in a forum topic
  • Crossposting: Posting a particular question on multiple sub-forums within one forum
  • Mod, moderator, admin, webmaster: administrator of the forum, who can delete, move, edit posts when the content is inappropriate.
  • Nick, nickname: pseudonym of a user
  • Avatar: image that matches the username, this can be a photo, but also an illustration.
  • Quote: copying (quoting) what someone else has typed
  • Lock: Closure of a forum topic so that it can no longer be replied to. Is mainly used for problems that have been solved and topics that threaten to get 'out of hand'.
