What are the common search themes for postcards and are we going to use them.
I am thinking of eg Lighthouses, Windmills etc.

I notice that the cartoon character cards explode the number of themes below S.
There is a cartoon character theme. Fine, but in addition, there is a danger of creating a separate theme for each cartoon character. I think there will be way too many.
It all depends on how you wish (should?) Access the information in the database.
What is happening at the moment is that each cartoon character has its own gets its own theme. For example, there is a theme comics: guust flater As a result, anyone looking for * guust flater * gets a hit under Postcards.
Isn't it purer to only maintain the main theme cartoon characters and to link the relevant postcard to the collection area Gaston Lagaffe (and Franquin natural) so that the item is found as a curiosity under the main collection area Gaston Lagaffe .
This also prevents the S-themes from taking up fifty pages AND it prevents all kinds of input \ typing errors from the category comics: eriK de Noorman
Creating links is a powerful means of disabling the database, which unfortunately is underused

Agree, the ability to link should be sufficient to find the map at the correct series / draftsman as curiosities.

There are plans to create a central theme file of all theme fields in the catalog.
These should then form the basis of the new theme headings to be set up.
As it stands now It can still go in all directions.
Until this line comes in, it is probably the most convenient to leave them as is.
Merging is always possible, and it happened in no time. a lot of work.

Totally agree with a central theme file. I would also like a good search wizard, because the proliferation of themes has primarily arisen as a result of limitations in the search function.

The proliferation of themes and the problem that Pegag has already rightly pointed out will both be tackled if a start is made on creating a central theme file.
It is true that other things within Catawiki will take precedence for the time being have.

Because theme is a mandatory field, all kinds of things are filled in here without it being really important. For me, a theme is a collector's item. You save a theme, which can be a place, a village or a municipality, but also another theme, such as airplanes, mills, churches, etc.
That is why the place, village, etc. should also be entered as a collection theme in the theme box. I do not fully understand the objections to this, but these can be resolved by automatically including the entered place name in the theme field. In addition, it is possible to name additional themes in the theme field. By not making the field mandatory, you prevent sprawl in this field with themes that no one spares. In that case, mentioning such a theme makes no sense.

Wouldn't it be useful to make Theme a non-mandatory field.

I just entered a map, but theme is no longer a theme. Everyone does something because it is 'mandatory'. Seems impossible for administrators to get that 'clean'.

Not a bad idea, but you can't. I don't see any other field that can be made mandatory without drawbacks and one is really needed - in addition to the title.

Too bad (for the management), then it ends.
