Zie #4286741 , #4219431 #5732971.
Colliers weekly: JUNE 22 SERIAL = "The Long Denial" conclusion by Vicki Baum;
4286741 en 4219431 zijn mi doublures, dat terzijde.
Een puzzel

Translate to EnglishSee #4286741 , #4219431 #5732971 . The KB and the publishers indicate that the book may have been written by Vicky Baum, in English, she lived in the USA. KB confirms this, but because of information that the story was first published as a serial in Colliers weekly.
Long Denial, I thought, was never published as a book in English by Vicky Baum.
As you read, this is a detective story, not really a Baum thing. Could it be that Vicky Baum only ever gave a review, because it says "conclusion"..
Colliers weekly: JUNE 22 SERIAL = "The Long Denial" conclusion by Vicki Baum;
4286741 and 4219431 are mi duplicates, that's besides the point.

Toch wel een beetje, bijvoorbeeld ook 'Mortgage on Life (Murder on Broadway)'.

No that is not possible. On the Internet I saw a front cover of a Colliers Weekly (June 1, 1946) with the caption "Beginning a new novel by Vicki Baum The Long Denial". The term 'conclusion' has many meanings, including plot.
As you read, this is a detective story, not really a Baum thing.
Quite a bit, for example 'Mortgage on Life (Murder on Broadway)'.

Betekenis plot : mee eens.
Je was mij voor, na ontelbare internet en movie sites : A Woman's Secret is a 1949 film noir directed by Nicholas Ray and starring Maureen O'Hara, Gloria Grahame and Melvyn Douglas. The film was based on the novel Mortgage on Life by Vicki Baum.[2]
Mortgage on life: Bess is the brains and driving force behind, and lives vicariously through, musical-comedy star Marylynn. When Marylynn decides to give up her career, Bess reacts poorly. Basis for the 1949 movie starring Marueen O'Hara, Gloria Grahame, and Melvyn Douglas.
Mortgage on life is dus eerder verschenen als feuileton The Long Denial.

Mortgage on life was previously published as serial The Long Denial.
That's also true: in the book Mortgage on life the main character is Bess. And so it appears in the Dutch version. Ergo I was wrong, so the original title is correct.

Translate to EnglishI was too quick to assume that Vicky Bauw has only written "novels", while I have not read even one of her books. That's a bit stupid... It was a long way in the Dutch paperback, but it turns out to be a misprint with some unprinted blank pages. Well, I do come across a complete copy every now and then.

Translate to English was an advantage, it was the first book my Father gave me to read in 1961, together with the Mystery of St Eustache (Havank), and I was also a Books manager for several years -:)
