entered #10172607 yesterday

https://www.lastdodo.nl/nl/areas/40081-wereldbibliotheek

I have only owned a handful of the WB issues and therefore know little about them. 1769 of them have already been imported into LD. Enigma, unfortunately no longer with us, has written a clear brief explanation about its origins and purpose.

What I was wondering:

a) Many of the titles entered have a number, but my entered copy does not. Were those numbers in the books or is there some sort of overview of them?
b) the band drawing is more common on other WB editions, does anyone know the name of the "designer" KB does not have that information.

Hi Harry, I've been doing some digging. The link below contains the answer to your question.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the link tonight. You can paste such a link with the paper clip, so that everyone can click on it immediately. (I also learned this because I'm not very good with digital skills)

I also made some changes today in the catalogue, Salamander series, so there is also a number (71 in the series), so it is not in my copy, not in the book and not in the dust jacket. Possibly also the same as the WB's ??

Harry56 thanks for the tip. I'm just as handy as you are. Learn something new almost every day. I don't have Salamanders (anymore). But the fact that they all have a number... it's got to be in the books somewhere. Checked all third photos/scans, but couldn't find a number anywhere.

The numbering of the Salamander series can be found in this booklet . According to this booklet, 'In the blazing spring' (3rd edition, 1950) does indeed have number 71, but that is stated between brackets. So it won't be in the book itself.

What it actually comes down to is that the importers of the WBs and Salamanders and/or some administrators had access to the numbering of the various publications? A nice description in the link that Jopo pasted in indicates that there used to be an initiative to bring reading to men/women at home for a reasonable price. A nice history.

NB. Among the books from the Wereldbibliotheek publisher are also Sirene pockets ( #5443057 ) and Rainbow pockets ( #3475227 ). Published by Maarten Muntinga and Wereldbibliotheek. They don't seem right there to me. I can't check it myself.

If they were published by Muntinga and Wereldbibliotheek, then they seem to look good there.

Not exactly what you're looking for, Harry56, but Antiqboek contains a list of all 233 premium publications of the Wereldbibliotheek: http://www.antiqbook.info/nl/verzamelen/series/wereldbibliotheek.html

That's quite an asset, thanks. Paste that link in my info folder. For example, I also have a file of K songs (the war songs).
And not all 233 premium expenses are included in lastdodo, but quite a few are.
