Good evening everyone,

I recently came across 2 coins in an old coin box with a kind of "blob" of metal on them. I'm wondering if this is a mistake or if it could have happened somewhere later.
I personally can't find many coins with the same type of thing as this.

Gr wes

There may have been a pin soldered on it at some point.

I don't know how much a half guilder from the Dutch East Indies or Curaçao was worth, but that often happened with coins of low value. The image side (portrait Wilhelmina) was worn as decoration, so the soldering lead is on the coin side.

You're exaggerating ;-)

I'd love to tell you how to get rid of that junk, but I haven't discovered a method yet.

Anatakartono21 We have a replica #6147231. And you don't give us a picture of the backside. Maybe some specialist can tell you more.

Anatakartono21 This coin was never released into circulation and only very few pattern examples are known to exist, so it is highly likely that your example is a replica. You can find more information in the comment on this page: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces292114.html

@ comic pins. Isn't the melting point of solder lead considerably lower than that of silver? Then carefully melt with a low power soldering iron and remove molten lead with tissue paper. Should work. (Do not use a soldering gun, but use a "tip")
Just checked: solder around 183-217 degrees, silver 961.8 degrees. It should work, unless it is soldered with silver, then it is a case of "too bad".
